TRAVEL SAFETY
When you are traveling by road, or by any other method for that matter, it is always smart to have a first aid kit with you in case of any emergency. The first aid kit is kind of an insurance policy. You should hope that you never have to use it, but when the time comes, you have it on you. Some of things the basic medical kit consists of are band aids for cuts and scrapes, sunscreen, matches, hand sanitizer, and other necessary items.
When things are going fine, obviously no one bothers about the first aid kid. Because of its size and weight they are usually overlooked. When someone does decide to make one, it gets complicated because he doesn't know what to include in it. Everyone has their own view. The wise move is to analyze the location to be traveled, and the special needs of the people who are going to travel in that particular location.
The first kit which forms the basis of all others is the “Basic Travel Kit”. It is perfect for a trip, and the items can be replenished in developed cities and towns where advanced medical care can be obtained.
Home medications form the central part of this kit. A person going through a medicinal course should continue the same during traveling. Enough medicine should be so that it lasts the whole trip, with a little extra in case of unforeseen incidents such as storms, accidents or delaying returning home for some reason. Carrying copies of home medication prescriptions as well as a spare pair of eyeglasses is also advisable.
The kit should be packed in a crush proof and watertight container. Following are some of the items that it may contain:
- Tylenol for pain and fever reduction
- Antihistamine for allergies and sleep aid
- Antiseptic towels for cleaning hands and wounds
- Gauze roll for minor cuts and scrapes
- Thermometer to check temperatures
